Christopher Morley was fascinated by puppets, precisely, the little Plumpuppets. "Of all the good fairies that sends bairns to rest/ The little Plumpuppets are those I love best" (line 3 and 4).

The poet saw them as the true "fairies of beds" in line 9.

Christopher Morley explained that they are capable of perfecting the bedspread to aid a sweet night rest. He further exaggerated the abilities of the little Plumpuppets with the use of personification:
"The little Plumpuppets are fairies of beds:
They have nothing to do but watch sleepy heads;
They turn down the sheets and they tuck you in tight,
And they dance on your pillow to wish you good night!" (stanza 3)

According to the poet, the little Plumpuppets are certain with pleasure and positive night rest for the kids because if pleasure was not be found in other toys or pets maybe because they got lost or broken, the little Plumpuppets are waiting in the bed to restore the joy and make the night a worthwhile rest.

The poem can be categorized under the children poetry, based on naijapoets.com perspective. The poem was among the anthology titled: The Rocking Horse [1918]. It has 4 stanzas with 4 lines each, and has an end rhyme pattern of AABB CCDD except the send stanza that looked like a chorus and has a same sound rhyme scheme. The main message of the poem is to remind the readers how important a good night rest is and to assure the readers that with inanimate objects like puppets, good night is certain.
