Is there any poem that embodies the four "P"s of marketing (The Marketing Mix)? The answer is yes.

I have been privileged to see many poems with commerce or selling as its main subject but none has been so complete as Sarojini Naidu's poem titled "In The Bazaars of Hyderabad".

This poem by Sarojini Naidu is a gem crafted out of the tools of imageries and rhetorical questions. "What do you sell, O ye merchants?" in line 2, "What do you play, O ye musicians?" in line 22, and many other questions portray varying ongoing activities in that mystery market. Sarojini Naidu is one of the notable voice in Indian literature; also referred to as the Nightingale of India, she lived from 1879 to 1949.

The themes in the poem are beautiful of marketing, unlimited scope of civilization, humans and creativity. The detailed descriptions of the poem speaker opens to the readers' awareness, how beautiful marketing can be. Sarojini was an Indian and the place of her poetic description might probably be India; so at the time the poem was composed, she revealed to the word that civilizations have been deeply rooted in her land of dwelling.

The poem is rhyme-made to form a five stanza poem of thirty lines. The occurrence is uniform and the place is a physical marketplace which is the opposite of the abstract marketplaces that has become the order of this present computer age.

What is Marketing Mix? This is the four "P"s of marketing, a model used by producers to drive out buying intent in consumers. The "P"s are product, price, place, promotion.

How can the four "P"s of marketing be related to the poem "In The Bazaars Of Hyperabad"? This can be related in terms of the poem's theme (product for the first P in marketing), the poet and her poem (price for the second P in marketing), the setting (place for the third P in marketing), the
diction and literary terms (promotion for the fourth P in marketing).
